ALIVE's Latest Research Report Explores How Fintechs Can Improve Access to Financing for Women-Led MSMEs

Report cover

In collaboration with Pro Mujer's Gender Knowledge Lab, and with support from the Dutch Good Growth Fund, ALIVE is pleased to announce the release of our latest gender research report, "How Fintechs Can Improve Access to Financing for MSMEs led by Women in Latin America."

The report is the result of an extensive study across the region, and provides a comprehensive look not just at the unique challenges women entrepreneurs encounter in accessing financing, but also tangible research-based recommendations for Fintechs to address these gaps.

Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) form the backbone of Latin America’s economy, making up 99.5% of businesses in the region. Despite their prominence, many women-led MSMEs struggle to access the financial resources they need to grow and thrive. This report sheds light on why 75% of women-owned MSMEs lack adequate financing and how the USD 98 billion financing gap can be overcome by Fintechs across Latin America through the design of solutions which take into account a gender perspective and the needs of women entrepreneurs.

This report offers both novel insights and actionable steps for the fintech industry and beyond to address these challenges head-on. Please find below the links to download the report, as well as a toolkit for Fintechs and MSMEs led by women which summarize the key findings and actionable recommendations.
